SUTIL stands for Sustainable Tourism Living, but it’s also a reference to the Spanish word sutil, meaning ‚subtle’. This reflects the project’s core philosophy of promoting gentle and respectful forms of sustainable travel that avoid the negative impacts of mass tourism.
The SUTIL project doesn’t aim to promote digital nomadism or remote work as trends to follow or lifestyles to aspire to. Rather, we recognize that they are already a reality - shaping how people move across the world today and carrying both opportunities and responsibilities.
Our goal is to invite reflection and responsibility within this growing phenomenon.
We believe that coliving spaces can play a key role in transforming travel from a transient act into an experience of mutual learning and exchange: helping travelers connect with local communities, contribute to the places they inhabit, and cultivate awareness of their social and environmental footprint.
In this sense, SUTIL is not about moving more, but about moving better.
The Travel Impact Guide is a practical tool designed to give travellers the language and framework to better understand the impact they create on the road, and to shape that impact into something beneficial for people and places.
SUTIL project represents a collaboration between give & grow (Germany), Sende (Spain) and Burgas Creative Hub (Bulgaria), funded by the European Commission.
